Our commitment
Each registered patient, including children under 16, is assigned an accountable GP. According to NHS England, “The accountable GP must take lead responsibility for ensuring that any services which the Contractor is required to provide under the Contract are coordinated and delivered to the patient.”
An oversight role, not a gatekeeping role
- Patients need not see their named GP for appointments
- Patients can choose any GP or nurse at the practice
- The named GP coordinates care with other health professionals
- The named GP ensures patients access appropriate health checks
- The named GP does not assume 24-hour responsibility
Why continuity of care matters
While patients may see any clinician, the practice encourages continuity with the same doctor or nurse for specific problems because:
- Patients avoid repeating medical history
- Clinicians can use saved time to the patient’s advantage
- Test results return to the ordering clinician
- Stronger patient–doctor relationships develop
Continuity may not always be possible due to urgent needs, clinician leave, or high demand for particular practitioners.
