Appointments

Need urgent help now? In an emergency call 999. If urgent but not an emergency, use NHS 111 online or by phone. See our Urgent care and out of hours page.

1. Do you need a directly bookable appointment?

These appointment types are booked directly with reception:

  • Blood tests
  • Cervical smears
  • Dressing changes and wound checks
  • Chronic disease reviews (for example asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis)
  • Travel immunisations
  • Pill checks
  • Mental health reviews
  • NHS health checks

2. Could a local NHS service help you directly?

You can also check local services you may be able to access directly without speaking to a GP first, such as physiotherapy (MSK), sexual health, maternity booking, hearing tests, contraception, therapy for mental health problems, elderly care, and support for drug and alcohol misuse.

3. Could Pharmacy First help?

Your local pharmacy can often treat common conditions first, including sore throat, sinus problems, earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, and some urine infections, and can prescribe antibiotics when appropriate.

4. Would the NHS App help?

Before you submit a new request, check if you can do what you need in the NHS App / NHS Account:

  • Check test results
  • Order repeat prescriptions
  • View your medical records
  • Review documentation from previous consultations

You can also use NHS Account for a similar service without installing an app, through your web browser.

5. Are you aware of what we cannot do for you?

Some requests need to be handled by the organisation responsible for that care. For example:

  • Sick notes after a hospital procedure should be issued by the hospital team.
  • Blood tests related to private care should be arranged by your private provider.

6. Everything else

For all other medical and administrative requests, please contact us online.

If you want to proceed, you can now send your request online.

7. Already have an appointment?

To change or cancel an existing appointment, use the NHS App first. You can also use NHS Account through your web browser if you do not want to install an app. If you cannot access online services, call reception.
