Overview
The Ivers Practice holds accreditation as a training facility for GP Specialty Trainees. Becoming a GP typically requires approximately 10 years in total: around 5 years in medical school, 2 years as a foundation doctor, and 3 years of GP specialist training.
GP specialist training
GP training normally includes 18 months in hospital posts and 18 months in approved GP practice settings. Hospital specialties during training may include General Medicine, Elderly Care, Paediatrics, and Obstetrics/Gynaecology. Training is provided through vocational training schemes including Buckinghamshire VTS and Windsor VTS.
Additional clinical teaching
The practice occasionally teaches other clinicians including nurses, physician associates, and pharmacists.
Medical students
Undergraduate medical students may observe consultations. Explicit patient permission is always requested beforehand.
